? This page provides instructions for creating a Google Developer account, which is necessary for hosting Android and AndroidTV apps. The page outlines the steps to create an account, including filling out a form. It also includes information on accessing the account and what to do if you encounter issues.

Create a Google Developer Account

To host Android and AndroidTV apps, a Google Developer account is essential.

Here's a step-by-step guide to setting up your account:

Visit the Google Play Console to begin.

  1. Sign in using a Google account (associated with a Gmail or GSuite email). If you don't already have a Google account, you'll need to create one.

NOTE: Keep in mind that the email/account used to set up your developer account will be owned by the account holder, who will have the necessary access rights to configure the account and authorize the FrontRow user to design and launch your apps.

  1. Once signed in, proceed to establish a new developer account:
    1. Public Developer Name: Displayed on the Google Play Store as the developer of your app listing.
    2. Backup Contact Email: Google may utilize this for communication (it remains hidden from users).
    3. Contact Phone Number: Prefix with country code (e.g., +1). Google may use this for outreach (it remains confidential to users).
    4. Review and accept the Developer Agreement and Terms of Service.
    5. Hit Create Account and Pay.
    6. This redirects you to a payment portal. If needed, enter your credit card details.
    7. A fee of $25 will be deducted from your credit card.

After the payment has been processed your account will be created and you’ll receive an email from Google with the details of this transaction (example below).

Access your account

After creating your Google Developer account, Google will send you an email with the details of the transaction. The email will contain a "View Online" button at the bottom, which you can click to access the Google Play Console using the same account you used to create the developer account.

This is the Home screen of Google Developer Console:

If you have successfully accessed your Google Developer Console, you can proceed to review your account details and invite the FrontRow user as a third-party developer.

Trouble accessing Google Play Console?

If you're redirected to the Create developer form after clicking the link in the confirmation email, you may be logged in to a different Google account than the one used to create the developer account.

To access your Google Developer Account, follow these steps:

  1. Check the email address in the To: field of Google's confirmation email.
  2. Log in to the Google Play Console using the same account used to create your developer account. If the login form does not appear, click on the profile icon and switch or log in to the proper account.
  3. If you're still unable to access your account, use this link to open the Google Play Console: https://play.google.com/apps/publish/ (bookmark this link).
